Hardship Not Created by Tinubu — Yuguda
Former Bauchi State governor, Isa Yuguda, has stated that the current hardships facing Nigerians were not caused by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking at the inaugural Asiwaju Scorecard Series organized by the All Progressives Congress Professionals Forum in Abuja, Yuguda highlighted that the problems Tinubu inherited would have led to a much worse situation if not for Tinubu’s careful handling.
Yuguda noted that despite the challenges associated with the removal of the fuel subsidy, Tinubu’s administration is unfairly bearing the consequences of this decision. He emphasized, “The President did not create any of the problems people are talking about, whether in the economy or in other sectors. In fact, what he met on ground would have created a worse situation if not properly handled, but he is championing reforms that are required to pave the way for a better society.”
“We all recall how on assuming office, President Tinubu announced the removal of fuel subsidy. For the avoidance of doubt, he did not remove the subsidy on PMS. It was not included in the latter part of the 2023 budget, yet surprisingly, the Tinubu administration has had to bear the brunt of subsidy removal,” Yuguda added.
