Woman burns policewoman and children- Anambra. Nnaemaka Nwosu, a woman, is accused of setting fire to a policewoman and her two children in Anambra State.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday in the Nnokwa village in Anambra State’s Idemili South Local Government Area.
The suspect, who was from Amawbia, was alleged to have been divorced by her husband and went homeless immediately after, before confiding in the policewoman, who provided her lodging in her flat.
According to an unnamed source in the vicinity, the trouble began when the suspect got into a disagreement with the policewoman, leading in a scuffle and the suspect striking the policewoman with a pestle until she fell and became unconscious.
“After that, the suspect tied the policewoman and her children together with rope, right inside their room, and set them ablaze, along with the building; and they (the policewoman and her children) all got burnt,” the source claimed.
“The suspect was apprehended first by operatives of the local vigilante and some of the villagers who were drawn to the fire, and who eventually captured her as she tried to flee the area.”
The suspect, who initially claimed that the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder while the woman and her children were boiling hot water, subsequently confessed to the crime and revealed how she committed it.
When contacted, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga of the Anambra State Police confirmed the event.
Ikenga went on to say that the suspect had been apprehended and that the case had been sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further investigation.
He stated that the policewoman’s and her children’s bodies had been deposited at the mortuary.
DSP Ikenga, who also provided a brief description of the occurrence, said that the case had been moved to the State Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
“Based on preliminary information, the policewoman accommodated the suspect while she looked for a house.” The two women got into a fight when they disagreed, and the suspect whacked the woman cop in the head with a pestle.
“While she was unconscious, she tied her to her two children and set them on fire.” The victims’ bodies have been retrieved and deposited at the mortuary. Ikenga added, “Further developments will be communicated.”
