Governor Aiyedatiwa denies plans to dissolve Ondo APC leadership amidst speculations.
In the wake of the former Ondo State Governor’s demise, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has refuted rumors about intending to dissolve the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. Addressing concerns raised by the Ondo Elite Group, Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, dismissed the notion, asserting that there is no such plan.
Following Aiyedatiwa’s transition from acting governor to the substantive governor on December 27, 2023, questions arose about potential changes in the APC political structure. While some resigned from their positions, the governor’s office reassures continuity, emphasizing a commitment to the legacy of the late former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
The Ondo Elite Group, in a statement, cautioned against altering the APC political framework, citing potential repercussions in the upcoming governorship election. The group’s General Secretary, Chief Yemi Oladiran, urged Aiyedatiwa not to dissolve the current party leadership, emphasizing the need for unity and adherence to constitutional processes.
Meanwhile, APC stakeholders in Ondo West Local Government Area advised Aiyedatiwa to carefully select his deputy, suggesting Dr. Thomas Akinwolere from Ondo town, a youth passionate about public service, as a suitable choice.
