Tinubu meets supreme council for sharia amidst criticisms

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently in a meeting with members of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN) at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja. This gathering follows recent criticisms from the SCSN’s President, Sheikh AbdurRasheed Hadiyyatullah, who expressed regret for supporting the Tinubu-Shettima same-faith ticket last year.

Approximately 48 hours ago, Sheikh Hadiyyatullah stirred controversy with comments in Abuja, stating that the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 election, which propelled President Tinubu to victory, fell short of expectations. He voiced disappointment, asserting that the same-faith ticket did not bring positive changes to the lives of Nigerians.

The agenda for the meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa is yet to be disclosed, but it is speculated that economic and security matters may be addressed.
