Popular Nigerian artist Ayra Starr, faced social media criticism after a video showed her shaking hands with Juju music icon King Sunny Ade (KSA) while standing. This led to online bashing as netizens accused the 21-year-old singer of disrespecting the legendary septuagenarian.
In response to the backlash, Ayra Starr took to her social media handle to issue an apology, in the Ayra Starr’s apologies, she was seen expressing regret for the oversight. However, some users were unsatisfied with her addressing KSA as “uncle” and insisted he should be referred to as “Daddy” due to his age.
Netizens shared mixed reactions, with some appreciating her apology while others called for further action, citing examples of other artists showing proper respect to King Sunny Ade.
