Yahaya Bello: Abuja school returns $760,000 to EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the refund of $760,000 paid by former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, as advance school fees for his children at the American International School, Abuja
According to EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the school has refunded the entire amount to the EFCC’s recovery accoun
Earlier, the American International School of Abuja requested “authentic banking details” from the EFCC for the refund of fees paid for Bello’s childre
Bello allegedly paid $720,000 in advance for five of his children’s school fees from the state’s coffer
In a letter to the EFCC, the school stated that $845,852 had been paid in tuition since September 7, 2021, and $760,910 would be refunded after deducting educational services rendere
The school warned of further action if additional deposits were made by the Bello famil
Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, disclosed that Bello transferred $720,000 from the state’s funds to a bureau de change to pay for his child’s school fees in advance.
