Hardship deepens: PDP criticizes Tinubu's leadership

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has once again criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of exacerbating the economic hardships faced by Nigerians. In a statement released on Thursday, the PDP argued that Tinubu’s leadership has failed to address the issues left by former President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight-year tenure and has only worsened the country’s economic situation.

The statement declared, “Tinubu’s poor leadership has plunged Nigerians into hardship,” highlighting how his administration’s policies have deteriorated the economic and social conditions in Nigeria. The PDP claimed that since assuming office in 2023, the policies implemented by the Tinubu administration have led to soaring inflation, making basic necessities like food, healthcare, and education unaffordable for many.

One of the most significant criticisms from the PDP is the rising cost of living. The party blamed the administration’s economic policies for the surge in inflation, which has left many Nigerians struggling to make ends meet. Additionally, the PDP highlighted the administration’s failure to improve the country’s infrastructure, particularly the power sector, which remains plagued by frequent blackouts and unreliable electricity supply.

The PDP also condemned the administration’s handling of the fuel subsidy crisis, which has led to a significant increase in fuel prices, making transportation and essential services costly for Nigerians. This, in turn, has caused a ripple effect throughout the economy, driving up the prices of goods and services.

Furthermore, the statement criticized the administration’s inability to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges. The rise in terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping has left citizens feeling unsafe and vulnerable. The healthcare sector has also suffered, with inadequate funding and resources leading to a decline in the quality of medical services, resulting in unnecessary suffering and deaths.

The PDP concluded by stating that the hardship faced by Nigerians is a direct result of poor leadership and governance by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government. They asserted that the Tinubu administration has failed to fulfill its promises and has not addressed the problems caused during Buhari’s administration.
