Nigerian Legion Seeks funding for military widows and orphans welfare.
The Nigerian Legion is advocating for funding to support the welfare of military widows, orphans, retirees, and defendants. Highlighting the absence of a take-off grant, the Legion emphasizes the need for annual budgetary provisions to ensure a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
Addressing the funding challenge, the Nigerian Legion urges the provision of a seed fund through annual budgets, eliminating the necessity to seek donations periodically from the public through emblem sales. The Legion emphasizes its status as the sole statutorily recognized body overseeing the welfare and speaking on behalf of ex-servicemen.
In a plea for unity among veteran associations, the Legion calls on others not to contribute to disunity. Establishing a consistent funding mechanism, the Legion believes, will empower them to better serve and support military widows, orphans, retirees, and defendants.
