Obiano’s Court appearance: A chance to dispel media speculations.
Former Governor Willie Obiano’s arraignment in a properly constituted court is seen as a positive step by Tony Nezieanya, a former aide, who believes it will put an end to the public media trial. Nezieanya emphasizes that this legal process will provide Obiano with an opportunity to address and refute the allegations against him in a thorough and impartial manner.
Quoting statements from Obiano’s legal representative, Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, Nezieanya stresses the importance of relying on the judiciary system for determining guilt or innocence, rather than depending solely on media trials and social media speculations.
Nezieanya points out the need to presume Chief Willie Obiano innocent until proven guilty, urging a fair chance for him to defend himself against the accusations. The former aide also highlights Obiano’s achievements during his time as governor, including the successful completion of the Anambra International Cargo Airport and significant contributions to the agricultural sector.
He concludes that Obiano’s arraignment should be viewed as an opportunity for him to clear his name and have the allegations properly interrogated, without overshadowing his notable achievements as governor.
