NDLEA Strike Force Graduates Amidst Call for Integrity.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), addressed the graduating members of the Strike Force elite corps, emphasizing the need for integrity and discipline in their role as anti-narcotic operatives.
During the graduation ceremony held in Jos, Plateau State, Marwa urged the officers to resist any form of enticement that conflicts with the ethos of their profession. He emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and dedication to duty, stating, “As an anti-narcotic officer, you bear a huge obligation to remain incorruptible in the face of any temptation that might be sprung on you by drug traffickers and barons.”
Represented by the Director of Special Duties/Commander, Strike Force, Deputy Commander General of Narcotics, DCGN Ahmed Ningi, Marwa commended the officers for their commitment to the specialized training and urged them to be vigilant in the fight against illicit drugs.
The NDLEA boss highlighted the significance of the Strike Force in the agency’s operations, stating, “The Strike Force adds strength and purpose to our drug supply reduction effort by reinforcing officers and men of NDLEA who have to work in dangerous terrain while carrying out their duties.”
He recounted recent successes where the Strike Force played a crucial role in raids, seizures, and destruction of illicit substances, showcasing the unit’s importance in challenging environments.
While assuring the officers that their competence would be tested in the field, Marwa urged them to consolidate the knowledge gained during the training and apply it judiciously in their various commands.
In his welcome remarks, the Commandant of the NDLEA Academy, Jos, Hamza Umar, expressed appreciation for the leadership’s commitment to continuous training for NDLEA officers. He stated, “With this new graduation, what we are saying and we have sent the signal and it is very clear that the drug barons, the drug traffickers, their days are numbered.”
A total of 391 personnel of the Strike Force graduated from the training program, which lasted for about three weeks. The ceremony marked a milestone in the agency’s efforts to enhance the capabilities of its officers in the fight against illicit drugs.
