In a harrowing revelation, Kenya is set to charge Paul Mackenzie, the leader of the Good News International Church, and 30 associates with murder, manslaughter, terrorism, and torture. Mackenzie allegedly ordered followers to starve themselves and their children to death, promising a passage to heaven before an impending apocalypse. The court in Malindi granted a prosecution request for mental health assessments of the defendants before formal charges. The cult-related tragedy involves the deaths of 191 children, with over 400 bodies exhumed from the Shakahola forest, marking one of the world’s worst cult-related incidents.
