Governor Fubara reinstates Commissioners amidst political turmoil.
In a recent development, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has officially sworn in nine re-nominated commissioners at the state Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt.
These commissioners had previously resigned as a demonstration of their loyalty to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, during the intense conflict between Wike and Governor Fubara. The swearing-in ceremony saw the officials taking oaths, starting with the oath of allegiance followed by the oath of office.
Governor Fubara, congratulating the re-sworn commissioners, acknowledged the challenging circumstances they faced, caught in the crossfire of political tensions. Encouraging them to prioritize the welfare of the state, he stated, “I don’t think I have any charge for you. You have already read your charge to uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I urge you to do the right thing.”
